I have tried to make many many many different types of recipes over the years for chili. Lots of beans, no beans, different meats, and different sides. As any good chef will tell you it takes years to get the flavors right.
Homemade Chili
Prepare all of your ingredients before browning your meat. I love to have my ingredients in little bowls all ready to go once I start cooking. Like the below picture, not this picture is not all of this recipe.
Brown Ground Meat of your choice, I prefer a pork and beef combination.
Once the meat is mostly cooked, add in your other ingredients in this order
- Onions
- Garlic
- Peppers
- Jalapenos
- Serrano Peppers
Let those elements all cook together until the onions are soft, add in the pepper juice, and cook for 5 minutes. Then add the Tomato Paste and cook out for 4 minutes.
Then add the beans, let those cook for 5 minutes, and add the tin of tomatoes.
Reduce the temp to low and let the ingredients blend together. Keep an eye on it and try the chili, add salt, garlic powder, hot sauce, etc. as needed.
Note: The longer you have the first ingredients the better the taste.
After 1 hour minimum, add in the baking soda and honey. Stir together and leave for another 5 minutes (min).
Once the taste is to your liking serve into bowls with Sour Cream and Cheese on top.
